Sunday School

Each year we bring the life changing knowledge of our Lord and Savior to our Sunday School students and their families. This school year we are joining the Sunday School programs of both St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and Light of Christ Lutheran Church, together called the United Proclamation of the Gospel (UPG). Sunday School will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on the Light of Christ Campus. We are looking forward to welcoming the people of St. Peter’s who will be joining us. We have already come to know many of the children and youth who attended VBS at Light of Christ this summer. If you would like to join our Sunday School staff or Educational Ministry Committee, you are always welcome. Please see Lynn Terry to talk about the opportunities for ministry within the UPG. We are looking forward to making new friends and seeing all of our returning friends. Welcome!!!

“Brewing Theology!” – Every Month

Join your friends for a wonderful discussion in a relaxing atmosphere with the ability to share in beverage and food!  Brewing Theology is a night when sisters and brothers get together at Tap’s Restaurant, Route 378, for informal discussions about faith and the world around us.  We are currently meeting on the second Monday of the month, at 6:00 PM (though some of us are there earlier to eat) and share time of fellowship together). Our gathering normally lasts until approximately 8:00 PM.  This is a great place to ask questions and simply process the world around us through a faith perspective!

Stories of Faith Bible Study

Each and every Thursday, many of your sisters and brothers gather with Pastor Jerry to hear, to discuss, to reflect on God’s Word. Many people seem to be a little intimidated to join the Bible study, fearing that they do not know or understand Holy Scripture. However this study is truly designed to offer insights into the background of Holy Scripture and search out the thoughts and impact of this Scripture in our daily lives. For many who join us at this ministry, there is a feeling of excitement in that this time together helps prepare them for the coming Sunday’s worship as we discuss the texts that will be shared in our weekend worship celebrations. This ministry is currently offered on our Light of Christ Campus at 9:00 AM and our St. Peter’s Campus at 6:30 PM. Please consider joining us for this opportunity to hear and learn more about how God calls us to live in the year 2019!

Adult Education on the St. Peter’s Campus

Please join us at St. Peter’s Campus for a Study of Romans. Starting
December 2, we will be doing an 8-week study from 10:15-11AM every Sunday
(except for Dec 23 and 30) on Romans and how it is one of the keys to Lutheran theology. Ted Birchmeier and Elizabeth Elterich will facilitate the class. The class on Dec. 2 will begin at 10:30 following the annual meeting. Classes will be held on the first floor in the Trauger Room across from the office. You’re invited – come to one class or all classes!

Women’s Bible Study

Consider starting 2019 by coming to the Women’s Bible study on January 15
and 29. Note: We usually meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday each month, but will
not meet on New Year’s Day, so for January 2019, will meet the 3rd and 5th
Tuesdays.
Beginning in January 2019, the group will focus on the study entitled “The Gospel
of John: Meetings with Jesus.” The author, the Rev. Julie A. Knarr, will guide
our discussions and of meeting Jesus as Jesus interacts with various characters
of the Gospel. The study is found in the Gather magazine of the Women of the
ELCA. Each woman receives a copy of the magazine which has many helpful,
insightful, spiritual articles. The time together includes the study time, prayers, and support of each other on our faith journeys.

Men’s Fellowship is now Everyone’s Fellowship

The UPG men’s fellowship, which meets on Wednesday mornings at 6:30 on St. Peter’s campus, is now opening our arms to any person, regardless of gender, who would like to join us! We are beginning an exciting new study entitled “Animate” published by the 1517 Publishing House (formerly Augsburg Fortress). In this study we will be discussing issues of faith, for example “the radical nature of Christ’s love to the world.” We always have coffee and wonderful fellowship available. A time for sharing our joys and concerns is always available and we normally complete our time together by 7:30 AM for those who need to get to work. We hope that you consider joining us for this wonderful opportunity.
